3. Rape

Rape is a non-consensual penetration (vaginal, anal, or oral) of a body part or object. Here are the important elements to ponder:

Rape is About Power, Not Passion
Rape is an act of violence and control, not a result of uncontrollable sexual desire.

Consent is Essential and Ongoing
If someone says ‘yes’ but is coerced, threatened, or too intoxicated to understand, it is not real consent.

Clear Consent Consent must be freely given, enthusiastic, and can be withdrawn at any time.

Without Consent Any penetration that occurs without explicit consent is rape, regardless of the circumstances.

Rape Can Happen in Different Situations:
Rape can occur in various contexts and is not limited to strangers

Rape Can Happen to Anyone
Victims can be of any gender, age, or sexual orientation.

What you wear is Not an Invitation Rape is never the victim’s fault. Clothing choices do not cause rape—rapists do. The idea that revealing or ‘provocative’ clothing invites sexual violence is a harmful myth rooted in victim-blaming.

Rape Often Involves Someone You Know
Statistics show that most perpetrators are known to the victim (e.g., friends, relatives, partners).
